In the ISO 8536-3 standard developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the properties and test methods of the aluminum caps of infusion bottles for medical use are described. This standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 8536-3 Infusion equipment for medical use - Part 3: Aluminum caps for infusion bottles.

The materials from which infusion glass bottles are produced, including elastomeric caps, are suitable primary packaging materials for storing infusion solutions until they are administered. However, in the ISO 8536-3 standard, aluminum caps are not considered as primary packaging material in direct contact with the infusion solution.
The ISO 8536‑3 standard describes the shape, dimensions, material, performance requirements and labels of aluminum caps for infusion bottles as described in the ISO 8536‑1 standard.
Here are a few standards that are referred to as normative in the application of the ISO 8536-3 standard and are indispensable for its implementation:
Infections associated with the catheter used in the veins in intensive care units are one of the main causes of illness and death. Infusion sets should be changed at regular intervals to prevent catheter-related infections. In the studies conducted on this subject, situations arising from the growth and contamination of the liquid in the sets used for a long time were determined.
Our organization also provides testing services for aluminum caps of medical infusion bottles according to ISO 8536-3 standards to businesses as part of our laboratory services .
