The ISO 21969 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes the basic safety and performance characteristics and test methods of high pressure flexible fittings used with medical gas systems. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 21969 High pressure flexible connectors for use with medical gas systems. This standard replaces the abolished TS EN 13221 standard.
The mentioned standard applies to high pressure flexible connections intended to be connected to cylinders or bundles of cylinders up to a nominal temperature of 15 degrees and a pressure of 25000 kPa for use with certain medical gases. These gases are: oxygen, nitrous oxide, inhaled air, helium, carbon dioxide, xenon, mixtures of these gases, air for operating medical equipment, nitrogen and oxygen-enriched air for operating medical equipment.
The ISO 21969 standard applies to high pressure flexible connections that aim to connect cylinders or cylinder bundles in the supply sources of medical gas pipeline systems conforming to the ISO 7396-1 standard to manifolds. It also applies to high pressure flexible connections designed to connect a cylinder to a medical equipment inlet port equipped with an integrated pressure regulator in accordance with the ISO 10524-1 standard, for example an anesthetic workstation or a lung ventilator.
However, this standard does not apply to high pressure flexible connections intended to be used to fill cylinders or low pressure flexible hose assemblies covered by the ISO 5359 standard.
