TS ISO 11040-3 Pre-filled Syringes - Part 3: Caps for Dentistry Local Anesthesia Cartridges

In the ISO 11040-3 standard developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the performance characteristics and test methods of pre-filled anesthesia cartridge caps used for local anesthesia in dentistry are described. This standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS ISO 11040-3 Pre-filled syringes - Part 3: Caps for dentistry local anesthesia cartridges.

This standard describes the shape, dimensions, material, performance requirements and label information of seals for dental local anesthetic cartridges, which are disposable only.

Packaging components made of elastomeric materials, that is, flexible plastic materials that are not easily deformed, provide good insulation and can be molded into different shapes, are an integral part of medical products. Therefore, current principles of good manufacturing practice apply to the manufacture of these components. These principles are contained in the ISO 15378 Primary packaging materials for medical products - Good manufacturing practices (GMP) reference, and the specific rules for the implementation of ISO 9001 and published GMP guidelines.

The standards that are referred to as normative in the application of this standard and indispensable for its implementation are: ISO 3302-1, ISO 7619-1, ISO 7885, ISO 8871-1, ISO 8871-4, ISO 8871-5, ISO 8872, ISO 11040-1 and ISO 11040-2.

The requirements for the ISO 11040-3 standard for prefilled anesthesia cartridge covers used in dentistry for local anesthesia are presented under the following headings: general, physical requirements, chemical requirements, and biological requirements.

Local anesthetic is a form of intervention that interrupts nerve impulses and prevents them from reaching the brain. In this procedure, a vasopressor drug is used to reduce the distribution of the local anesthetic in the circulation and increase its duration of action.

Our organization also provides businesses with performance testing services for pre-filled anesthetic cartridge caps used for local anesthesia in dentistry, as part of our laboratory services, in accordance with ISO 11040-3 .
