The ISO 11990 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes the laser resistance determination and performance characteristics and test methods of tracheal tube balloons. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 11990 Laser and laser related equipment - Determination of laser resistance of tracheal tube stems and tracheal tube balloons.

This standard provides test methods for determining the following resistance properties for tracheal tubes:
When interpreting the results obtained from these tests, it is important to note that the direct applicability of the results to the clinical situation has not been fully determined. All attention should be focused on the laser's sensitivity to wavelength and on testing at the intended wavelength. If testing is to be done using other wavelengths, the power settings and transmission modes must be clearly specified.
This test method includes hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. The ISO 11990 standard makes recommendations to minimize some of the risks for use. However, it is not intended to address all such risks. When performing tests, it is necessary to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of legal restrictions before use.
The standards that are referred to as normative in the application of this standard and indispensable for its implementation are: ISO 11146-1, ISO 11810, ISO / IEC Guide 99, ISO 5361 and ISO 11145.
Within the scope of laboratory services, our organization also provides laser resistance determination and performance testing services of ISO 11990 tracheal tube balloons to enterprises.
