The ISO 18082 standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), describes the performance characteristics and test methods of non-interchangeable threaded low pressure connectors for medical gases in anesthesia and respiratory equipment. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 18082 Anesthesia and respiratory equipment - Non-interchangeable screw thread (NIST) low pressure connectors for medical gases.

This standard does not describe the dimensions, selection, and marking criteria for non-replaceable threaded fittings intended for use in vacuum systems at operating pressures up to 1.400 kPa and non-absolute pressures of 60 kPa. This standard defines non-replaceable threaded fittings intended for use with the following medical gases: oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air, helium, carbon dioxide, xenon, specified mixtures of these gases, oxygen-enriched air, air for the operation of medical equipment, and nitrogen for the operation of medical equipment.
The ISO 18082 standard is for the safe connection of medical equipment for administering medical gases. Medicinal gases are stored in cylinders or cryogenic containers or produced in the field. During use, several medical devices, such as pressure regulators, hose assemblies, flow meters, lung ventilators, and anesthetic workstations, can be placed between the supply source and the medical device. Gas-appropriate fasteners are required for each interface to ensure the intended medical gas delivery to the patient.
Although an agreement has been reached on a single international standard for threaded fasteners, this agreement seems impossible due to the current usage. However, given the possible dangers, this standard fulfills a great need.
Within the scope of laboratory services, our organization also provides performance testing services for non-interchangeable screw thread low pressure connectors for medical gases in ISO 18082 anesthesia and respiratory equipment.
