TS EN ISO 7396-1 Medical Gas Piping Systems - Part 1: Compressed Medical Gases and Piping Systems for Vacuum

The ISO 7396-1 standard, developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes the basic safety and performance characteristics and test methods of compressed medical gases and piping systems used for vacuum purposes. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 7396-1 Medical gas piping systems - Part 1: Piping systems for compressed medical gases and vacuum.

TS EN ISO 7396-1 Medical Gas Piping Systems - Part 1: Compressed Medical Gases and Piping Systems for Vacuum

This standard is the design of pipeline systems used in healthcare facilities for gases such as oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air, carbon dioxide, oxygen and nitrous oxide mixtures, helium and oxygen mixtures, oxygen 93, air for operating medical instruments and nitrogen for operating medical instruments. It describes requirements for its installation, function, performance, testing, commissioning, and documentation.

Meanwhile, if regional or national regulations prohibit the distribution of oxygen and nitrous oxide mixtures in medical gas pipeline systems, this should be taken into account. The anesthetic gas cleaning system is covered by the ISO 7396‑2 standard. The TS EN ISO 7396-1 standard includes interchangeability requirements between supply systems, pipeline distribution systems, control systems, monitoring and alarm systems, and components of different gas and vacuum systems.

This standard specifies safety requirements for pipeline systems used in both public and private healthcare facilities. This standard applies to all organizations providing healthcare services, regardless of type, size, location or service area, including but not limited to: acute care health facilities, inpatient continuing care health facilities, long-term care facilities, community-based providers, and outpatient and outpatient clinics.

Our organization also provides ISO 7396-1 testing services for compressed medical gases and piping systems used for vacuum applications to businesses as part of our laboratory services .
