TS EN ISO 10524-1 Pressure Regulators - For Medical Gases - Part 1: Pressure Regulators and Flow Rate Pressure Regulators

In the 10524-1 standard developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the characteristics and test methods of pressure regulators and flow rate pressure regulators used with medical gases are explained. This standard has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN ISO 10524-1 Pressure regulators - For medical gases - Part 1: Pressure regulators and flow rate pressure regulators.

This standard describes the design, manufacture, type testing and marking requirements for pressure regulators designed for the application of medical gases and their mixtures in the treatment, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients. Gas samples include oxygen, medical air, and mixtures of oxygen and nitrous oxide.

Applies to pressure regulators covered by this standard:

• Pressure regulators intended to be connected to cylinders by the operator
• Integrated flow measuring devices intended to be connected to cylinders by the operator
• As an integral part of medical equipment, such as anesthetic workstations, lung ventilators and resuscitators

It can be provided with a pressure regulator, pressure outlet or flow outlet, or can be preset. Pressure regulators are designed to be mounted on refillable cylinders with an operating pressure of up to 300 bar and can be equipped with devices that control and measure the flow of delivered medical gas.

The ISO 10524-1 standard specifically focuses on:

• Safety factors such as mechanical strength, leakage, safe relief of overpressure and resistance to ignition
• Gas specificity
• Cleaning
• Type test
• Marking
• Information provided by the manufacturer
