The “CNH MAT0101 Color Requirements and Color Control” standard, developed by CNH Industrial, an American-Italian multinational company, describes the appearance characteristics such as color, gloss, and surface condition of paints, plastics, and decals used on CNH products and parts. The table within the standard lists colors specific to decals only. These requirements apply to all CNH facilities and suppliers providing parts to CNH.

Performance requirements for paint materials and finished parts to the colors specified in this specification are given in the CNH material specifications applicable to metals, plastics and decals.
This specification replaces the standard “New Holland FNHA-2-J-005.00 Colour definition and body MS-1 paint, general requirements”. It does not cover the surface finish acceptance criteria. For these requirements, the applicable sections of the former CNH company and local standards must be taken into account.
This specification may contain hazardous materials, devices and procedures. This specification does not purport to address all safety, health and environmental issues associated with its use. Users of the specification are responsible for consulting appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and determining the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use, application or subsequent removal of paint materials supplied in accordance with this specification.
Color designation, performance class and corresponding part numbers should be specified on the engineering drawing. For additional details on specifying paint color and performance classes on drawings, the CNH DWGA110 standard applies.
The responsibility for CNH color panels (color standards) lies with the CNH group. CNH has worldwide responsibility for the production, color matching, inventory, distribution and tracking of color panels.
Colour standard panels must be at least 50 x 100 mm in size. The panel can be made of steel, plastic, durable paper or cardboard. The panels must be large enough to provide sufficient viewing area to determine if a visual colour match is present by comparing the colour of the colour panel with an actual CNH product. These panels can also be measured with a colour spectrophotometer and used as a standard reference. Colour panels should be stored in a case to protect the panel from abrasion or excessive exposure to light. It is recommended that colour panels be stored in a freezer at minus 20 degrees to prevent deterioration.
The color components of the color control panel shall be in a resin base that minimizes loss of gloss and maintains color over time. This resin base shall be primarily in the form of a dye. A blend of predetermined pigments shall be mixed into the resin base to create the color coating of the panel. The resin base and pigment combination shall have a minimum exposure time of 2 years and shall meet or exceed the applicable performance Class 3 requirements. The service life of color panels shall be 5 years from the date of manufacture and shall be replaced or recertified at the expiration date. Recertified color panels shall receive an extension of up to 2 years from the previous expiration date.
The color panel copies the brightness level determined from the initial color sample. Brightness deviation across the color panel must be less than plus/minus 3 percent. Color panels are evaluated for acceptance compared to the color electronic center point.
CNH color panels are developed for limited unique colors, including primary brand identity colors and certain metallic colors. Colors with CNH color panels are designated in the table with the code “CNH.” All other colors in the table are controlled by industry standard color systems.
Industry color standard codes for secondary CNH colors are defined in the table provided in the standard. These colors are compared to the established industry standard for color matching and control in CNH applications. Where the table states “Contact materials engineering”, no industry standard or CNH color master sample is available.
Among the numerous tests, measurements, analyses and evaluation studies that our organization has carried out for businesses in various sectors, it also provides certification and testing services defined in the “CNH MAT0101 Color requirements and color control” standard with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
