Elemental Analysis - Arsenic (As)

Arsenic is a very well known poison. Arsenic compounds are used as rat poisons and pesticides, but their use is tightly controlled. On the other hand, arsenic is also used in medical applications. Today, organoarsenic compounds are added to poultry feed to prevent disease and improve weight gain.

It contains small amounts of arsenic in its natural form. It is mainly found in minerals. Most arsenic is produced as a byproduct of refining copper and lead.
