Elemental Analysis - Beryllium (Be)

A strong and light element, beryllium is used to make cell phones, missiles, and airplanes. However, beryllium in the air is highly toxic and workers who handle this metal must be very careful. Beryllium is classified as a carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer and is known to cause lung cancer in workers who mine or process this metal and are exposed to beryllium on a daily basis.

Elemental Analysis - Beryllium (Be)

But despite its toxicity, beryllium is quite useful due to its unique qualities. For example, it is one of the lightest metals and has one of the highest melting points of any light metal. Steel-gray colored beryllium has a flexural strength about one-third greater than steel. Beryllium is non-magnetic and resistant to concentrated nitric acid. It also has superior thermal conductivity and resists oxidation in air at normal temperatures.

Beryllium is alloyed with copper or nickel to make springs, gyroscopes, electrical contacts, spot welding electrodes, and non-sparking tools. Other beryllium alloys are used in high-speed aircraft and missiles, as well as in spacecraft and communications satellites. Beryllium copper alloy is also used in the structural components of the windshield frame, brake discs and support beams.

In the tests and analyzes carried out in our organization, which has a wide range of technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and applies the most modern methods, national and international standards, as well as the legal regulations in force, are complied with.ir. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also beryllium (Be) testing services within the framework of elemental analysis.
