Elemental Analysis - Chromium (Cr)

The name chromium is taken from the Greek word chroma, meaning color, as it forms various colored compounds.

Elemental Analysis - Chromium (Cr)

Transition metals are known for their multicolored ions. Hexavalent chrome is orange, trivalent chrome is green.

Chromium is one of the essential elements, but hexavalent chromium is very toxic and carcinogenic.

Chromium is commonly used in stainless steel and other alloys. For example, chrome plating on cars and bicycles produces a smooth, silver coating that is highly resistant to corrosion. It is also widely used as a catalyst. Chromium compounds are valued as pigments because of their vibrant green, yellow, red and orange colors.

Chromium is not found as a free element in nature, it is found in the form of ore. The main chrome ore is chromite. To commercially isolate the metal, chromite ore is oxidized. The metal is then obtained by heating the oxide in the presence of aluminum or silicon.

Meanwhile, chromium is an essential trace element as it helps the human body use glucose. However, it is highly toxic. Foods such as brewer's yeast, wheat germ and kidney are rich in chromium.

In the tests and analyzes carried out in our organization, which has a wide range of technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and applies the most modern methods, national and international standards and legal regulations in force are complied with. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also chromium (Cr) testing services within the framework of elemental analysis.
