The ISO 1996-2 standard, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), includes a test method for determining sound pressure levels that are intended to be the basis for evaluating environmental noise limits or comparing scenarios in spatial studies.

Determination can be made based on measurement results through direct measurement and calculation . This method is primarily intended for outdoor use, but some guidance is also provided for indoor measurements. In our country, this standard has been published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the title: TS ISO 1996-2 Acoustics - Definition, measurement and evaluation of environmental noise - Part 2: Determination of sound pressure levels.
The ISO 1996-2 standard is flexible and largely the user determines the uncertainty of measurement, which is determined and reported in each case. Therefore, there is no limit to the maximum uncertainty allowed. Often the measurement results are combined with calculations to correct for reference operating or propagation conditions that differ from those during the actual measurement.
This standard is applicable to any source of environmental noise, such as road and rail traffic noise, aircraft noise and industrial noise.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also services for determining the level of environmental noise, day, evening and night (TS ISO 1996-2).
