This standard applies to 8 types of basketball equipment in classes A through E. It does not apply to household basketball equipment and ball-throwing equipment, which are considered to fall under the EN 71-1 Safety of toys – Part 1: Mechanical and physical properties standard. The purpose of ball-throwing equipment is to practice pushing a basketball into a basket.
