Ambient Noise Measurements

Ambient Noise Measurements

Measuring noise levels and employee exposure to noise is a crucial part of a hearing protection and noise control program in a work environment. Ambient noise measurements are an important tool in detecting employees who have noise problems, who will be exposed to noise levels that cause hearing loss, and workplaces where additional noise measurements should be made. This information also helps identify appropriate noise control measures that should be implemented.

Ambient Noise Measurements

Sound pressure level is measured to determine noise exposures. Various tools and techniques are used for this. The choice depends on the workplace noise and the information needed. However, the first step is to determine if there is a noise problem from the working environment.

In making and evaluating noise measurements, the CSA Z107.56-13 standard is generally based on (CSA Z107.56-13 R2018 Noise exposure measurement). This Canadian standard describes methods for determining workers' exposure to occupational noise using sampling techniques. With these methods, the long-term noise exposure values of the employees in the workplace are calculated.

This standard provides methods for measuring all types of occupational noise exposure, such as continuous noise, tonal noise, and impulsive noise . It is designed to measure noise exposure in the workplace, but is also used to measure non-occupational noise exposures, including those from music players, radios, or other sound systems.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. Ambient noise measurement services are among the numerous tests carried out in this context.
