Chromium 6 (VI) Test

Studies on workers in the chromate production, chromate pigment and chromium electroplating industries show that lung cancer mortality rates are increasing. All hexavalent chromium compounds are classified as carcinogens. The risk of developing lung, nose and sinus cancer increases as the amount of chromium VI inhaled and the exposure time of workers increase.

Chromium 6 (VI) Test

Occupational exposure occurs mainly in the use of pigments, spray paints and coatings on stainless steel and other chromium-containing metals, welding and other types of hot work during operation of chrome plating baths. Industries where exposure occurs are shipyards, the construction, repair and painting of automobile bodies, trucks, trains and aircraft.

Chromium VI, or hexavalent chromium, is a form of the metallic element chromium. It is generally produced by an industrial process. Chromium metal is added to alloy steel to increase hardenability and corrosion resistance. Major sources of worker exposure to chromium VI are welding on steels containing chromium metal and abrasive blasting, sanding and grinding com VI coated materials. Chromium VI compounds are used as pigments in paints, inks and plastics. It is also used as an anticorrosive agent added to paints, primers and other surface coatings. Chromium VI exposure occurs by inhalation, ingestion with food or water, or by direct contact with the skin.

In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. Chromium 6 (VI) testing services are among the numerous tests carried out in this context.
