EN IEC 60137 Insulated Insulators for Alternating Voltages Above 1000 Volts

The EN IEC 60137 standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) describes the requirements of insulated insulators and offers test methods. This standard applies to bushings with a maximum voltage above 3 Volts and power frequencies from 1000 Hz to 15 Hz for equipment intended for use in electrical equipment, machinery, transformers, switchgear and installations for 60-phase alternating current systems.

This standard is applicable, in whole or in part, to the following materials:

• Insulators used outside of three-phase systems
• Insulators for high voltage direct current systems
• Insulators for testing transformers
• Insulators for capacitors

Insulators that are part of an apparatus and cannot be tested according to this standard must be tested with the apparatus of which they are part.
