IEC 61000-6-4 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Part 6-4: General Standards - Emission Standard for Industrial Environments

IEC 61000-6-4 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Part 6-4: General Standards - Emission Standard for Industrial Environments

The IEC 61000-6-4 standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is designed for electrical and electronic equipment intended for use in environments located in industrial locations.

IEC 61000-6-4 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Part 6-4: General Standards - Emission Standard for Industrial Environments

This standard does not apply to equipment covered by the IEC 61000-6-3 standard (Electromagnetic compatibility, EMC - Part 6-3: General standards - Emission standard for equipment in residential environments).

The IEC 61000-6-4 standard covers both indoor and outdoor spaces. This standard addresses the emission requirements in the frequency range 9 kHz to 400 GHz and this range has been chosen to provide adequate radio reception shielding in the defined electromagnetic environment.

It is not considered necessary to measure at frequencies where no requirements are specified. These requirements are considered necessary to provide an adequate level of protection to radio services.

The standard specifies requirements for each port considered. This general electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) emission standard is used where there is no applicable product or product family emission standard.

Not all deterioration events are included in the tests, only those considered to be related to equipment intended to operate in the environments covered by this standard.

The following major changes have been made in the last update of this standard:

  • Possible future requirements for DC ports
  • Possible future radiated polarity specific emission limits within a FAR
  • Description of which average detector is used for emission measurements at frequencies above 1 GHz and that results using a peak detector are acceptable for all measurements
  • Description of the different EUT test arrangements

The requirements in the IEC 61000-6-4 standard include both conducted and radiated emissions. The transmitted emission requirements for the network ports and telecommunications ports must be met in the frequency range 0kHz-30MHz. The radiated emission requirements must be met in the frequency range:

  • 108MHz-30GHz if internal oscillator frequency is up to 1MHz
  • 500MHz-30GHz up to 2MHz
  • 1MHz-30GHz up to 5GHz
  • 1MHz-30GHz if higher than 6GHz

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our company also provides emission testing services for industrial environments in terms of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) within the scope of IEC 61000-6-4 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. gives.
