Synthetic Blood Penetration Splash Resistance Test

Synthetic Blood Penetration Splash Resistance Test

Synthetic Blood Penetration - Splash Resistance testing to determine a product's ability to act as a barrier against blood-borne pathogens EUROLAB It is one of two synthetic blood resistance tests offered by. The Splash Resistance testing method challenges medical face masks that contain a fixed volume of synthetic blood directed at high velocity at the center of the mask.

This test is required for ASTM F2100 and has been tested according to ASTM F1862, ASTM F2100, EN 14683 and ISO 26609. EUROLAB's highly experienced staff offers complete service for all ASTM F2100 and EN 14683 testing.

Applicable Standards

  • ASTM F1862
  • ISO 22609
  • ASTM F2100
  • EN 14683

Sample Features

  • SBP210: 32 masks required for each pressure

2 mL of synthetic blood is sprayed through a small cannula onto the surface of the face mask. At the end of the test, the back of the medical face mask is observed for synthetic blood penetration. Face masks can be evaluated at three different speeds corresponding to a human blood pressure of 80, 120 and 160 mm Hg. If the mask passes at the highest pressure, there is no need to test the mask at a lower pressure. A single sampling plan that provides an Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) of 4.0% would require 32 masks to be tested and 32 of 29 masks to pass.

The surface tension range for blood and body fluids is about 42-60 dynes / cm. To simulate the wetting properties, synthetic blood is adjusted to the lower end of this range (40 ± 5 dynes / cm).

EUROLAB, with its highly expert team and internationally accredited laboratories, Synthetic Blood Penetration Splash Resistance Test It performs all test, analysis, measurement, evaluation and report generation services completely and reliably.
