The flammability testing procedure evaluates the flammability of medical textiles, including face masks, surgical gowns and drapes. The test method is designed to comply with 16 CFR Part 1610. This testing is required by ASTM F1 (Standard Specification for the Performance of Materials Used in Medical Face Masks) to ensure that all face masks meet Class 2100 flammability requirements. Testing is also required for a 510(k) application to the FDA. In addition to flammability testing, EUROLAB Can perform all ASTM F2100 tests.

The flammability test determines the flame spread time for the given material. Some types of finished and unfinished fabrics made from all natural or regenerated cellulose fabrics as well as other natural or synthetic fibers are flammable. Some flammable fabrics are potentially dangerous to the user due to the speed and density of these fabrics and the ease of ignition.
Suggested samples: Standard 16 CFR 1610 requires testing 5-10 samples depending on whether flame spread is present; 4 additional samples are required for pre-testing.
