AMS 1428 Fluid, Aircraft De-icing and Anti-icing, Non-Newtonian (Pseudoplastic) Fluid - SAE Types II, III and IV

Developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the AMS 1428 standard describes the requirements for three types of de-icing and anti-icing materials that are in the form of a non-Newtonian liquid.

AMS 1428 Fluid, Aircraft De-icing and Anti-icing, Non-Newtonian (Pseudoplastic) Fluid - SAE Types II, III and IV

SAE AMS1428 Type with propylene glycol blend and anti ice feature to remove snow, ice, frost and other forms of frozen precipitation from aircraft surfaces. II, III and IV deicing liquids are used. These types of solvent liquids are produced in light yellow color not to be confused with Type 1. Using a mixture of propylene glycol is to increase the freezing point of this liquid. While producing the liquid, special gelling agents are added to its formula, thus increasing its thickening when it comes into contact with cold. This increases the adhesion resistance on the applied surface.

In fact, commercial airplane companies have used de-icing and anti-icing fluids for many years to prepare airplanes for safe takeoff and flight in the winter. New and more effective de-icing and anti-icing fluids are now increasingly preferred, in order to remove contamination such as ice or snow more quickly and effectively. industry standards are updated to reflect these latest developments.

De-icing and anti-icing fluids are developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) according to industry standards. In addition, the International Standards Organization (ISO) publishes similar standards. The SAE AMS 1424 and SAE AMS 1428 standards are specifications that contain performance requirements for de-icing and anti-icing fluids. The AMS 1424 standard applies to SAE Type I fluids and the AMS 1428 standard applies to SAE Type II, III and IV fluids.

These standards contain specifications for a fluid aerodynamic acceptance test jointly established by the American Aerospace Industries Association and the European Aerospace Industries Association.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides 1428 fluid, aircraft defrosting and anti-icing liquid testing services within the scope of AMS 1428 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
