Developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), the ASTM D6304 standard includes a test method for the direct determination of water in petroleum products and hydrocarbons using automated instrumentation.
This test method also includes indirect analysis of water that is thermally removed from samples and swept into the Kari Fischer titration cell with dry inert gas. Sulphites, sulfur and other compounds affect this test method. The precision of this method covers the nominal range of 20 mg/kg to 25.000 mg/kg for procedure A, 30 mg/kg to 2100 mg/kg for procedure B, and 20 mg/kg to 360 mg/kg for procedure C.
The full name of this standard is: ASTM D6304-20 Standard test method for the determination of water in petroleum products, lubricating oils and additives by coulometric Karl Fischer titration.
This test method is designed for use with commercially available coulometric Karl Fischer reagents and for the determination of water in additives, lubricating oils, base oils, automatic transmission fluids, hydrocarbon solvents and other petroleum products.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Moisture determination (ASTM D6304) services are among the numerous tests performed in this context.
