AVTP 03-110, one of the Allied Vehicle Test Publications published under the NATO Standardization Treaty (STANAG) , describes the methods and requirements for water crossing tests conducted as part of performance testing of wheeled military vehicles. This standard includes test methods for evaluating the water crossing ability of a military vehicle and the effectiveness of water crossing kits. In short, the standard describes the evaluation procedures for wheeled military vehicles, both in terms of their capabilities and the effectiveness of their crossing equipment.

Full performance tests are carried out for wheeled military vehicles in advanced laboratories. In these tests, a wide variety of military vehicles, up to modern military tanks, are evaluated and their performance capabilities are determined. Typical performance considerations include braking, acceleration, top speed, steady-state stability and dynamic steering and handling on off-road surfaces. In addition, manufacturers are assisted to develop certain performance tests and criteria for their own products.
These tests range from vehicle dynamics tests to traction control systems evaluations. In this context, the performance of wheeled military vehicles through water is also evaluated. These tests determine the transition characteristics of non-floating vehicles and examine the effects of water on working gear components such as brakes, seals and universal joints. In some tests where the water depth can be adjusted, the efficiency of the vehicle is tested while underwater by immersing the vehicles in water. The performance and safety of operations are evaluated underwater and generally on 40 and 50 percent entrance and exit slopes. These tests determine the ability of wheeled military vehicles to enter and exit a natural water body.
Deep water crossing is a technique used to evaluate the ability of some heavy semi-amphibious vehicles to traverse waters several meters deep. In these tests, military vehicles move along riverbeds, lakebeds, or seabeds, and use grids or a piping system that reaches above the water surface for air supply.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides water penetration test services among the performance test methods of wheeled military vehicles, within the scope of AVTP 03-110 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
