Standardization is a decisive tool for improving operational efficiency by promoting the interoperability of military forces, systems and equipment, and resulting in an increase in the use of available resources and, ultimately, efficiency. The contribution of standardization to performance in the fulfillment of armed forces duties, that is, in the context of integration into multinational forces, cannot be denied.

STANAG standards, which are NATO standardization agreements, define the military standards of NATO member countries. The purpose of the STANAG 2979 standard, published within this framework, is to describe the basic characteristics of electrosurgical equipment.
An electrosurgery unit is a medical device that uses high-frequency electrical currents to cut tissue during surgery, known as electrosurgery, to destroy tissue by drying, and to control bleeding by causing blood to clot. This procedure is performed with a high-power, high-frequency generator that produces a radiofrequency spark between a probe and the surgical field, which causes local heating and tissue damage. The electrosurgery unit consists of an electrosurgical generator that converts electrical energy into high frequency current. This generator works in two modes. In monopolar mode, an active electrode concentrates current at the surgical site and a dispersive (returning) electrode diverts current from the patient. In short, this device is operated using a specific control system.
Surgeons routinely use electrosurgery to create tissue effects such as coagulation or tissue dissection. Electrosurgical device for cutting and coagulation is the most commonly used device. Use of these devices may result in care-related events that the treating physician should be aware of to minimize the risk. Both the surgeon and the endoscopist should report these events to their respective accreditation bodies. These situations are usually due to underlying causes such as dysfunction, improper tool use, or simply the presence of an electromagnetic field causing stray energy paths.
Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, also provides testing services for the basic features of electrosurgical apparatus within the scope of STANAG 2979 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
