STANAG 4435 Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Procedure for Naval Electrical and Electronic Equipment

STANAG 4435 Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Procedure for Naval Electrical and Electronic Equipment

The purpose of the STANAG 4435 standard, which is a NATO standardization agreement, is to explain the minimum requirements for electromagnetic emission and sensitivity measurements of electrical and electronic equipment to be used on metallic surface ships and to present basic test methods.

STANAG 4435 Electromagnetic Compatibility Test Procedure for Naval Electrical and Electronic Equipment

This standard includes the electromagnetic compatibility perspective, the standards and basic features of the electrical and electronic systems on these ships in the design and construction of naval ships (including surface ships and submarines).

Electromagnetic compatibility problems have been increasingly addressed recently and are based on two facts that require an estimation of future trends:

  • The first fact is that the number of electronic equipment in each system and the size of the devices obtained with new technologies are getting smaller and smaller. In this case the requirement for higher frequencies and the increased probability of interference. The main impact this has on system-level design is the need for better tools to predict system performance and identify electromagnetic compatibility constraints.
  • The second fact of concern concerns the coexistence and harmonization of commercial and military standards. In fact, military standards are mainly concerned with the immunity and functioning of equipment. Commercial standards, by contrast, seek the peaceful coexistence of all equipment, ie reduced emissions and adequate immunity.

Air platforms are envisaged to increase the number of onboard transmitters for satellite and ground communications, defense, tracking and surveillance systems. The introduction of new technologies, largely based on the downsizing of devices and high speed, is closely related to the reduced weight of equipment and increased computing bandwidth.

New technologies involve physical phenomena and frequency ranges that were of little concern in the past, and defining the electromagnetic compatibility requirements of next-generation systems presents challenges.

Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, electromagnetic compatibility (surface ship, metallic boat) for electrical and electronic equipment in the navy within the scope of STANAG 4435 standard. It also provides testing services.
