MIL-PRF-50884 Performance Characteristics: Printed Circuit Board, Flexible or Rigid-Flexible, General Specifications

The MIL-PRF-50884 standard, a United States military defense standard, describes performance and qualification requirements for flexible and rigid-flexible printed wiring boards with or without coated through holes. Verification is performed using one of two product assurance methods. These methods are included in the standard annex.

MIL-PRF-50884 Performance Characteristics: Printed Circuit Board, Flexible or Rigid-Flexible, General Specifications

The printed circuit boards covered by this standard are as follows:

  • Type 1: Single-sided flexible printed circuit board, with or without shields
  • Type 2: Double-sided flexible printed circuit board, with or without shielding, with or without shielded holes
  • Type 3: Multilayer flexible printed circuit board with plating holes and shields or without reinforcement
  • Type 4: Multilayer rigid and flexible printed circuit board with plated holes
  • Type 5: Bonded rigid or flexible printed circuit board combinations without cladding holes

Printed wiring boards covered by this standard are for the following installation uses:

  • Usage A: Withstand flexing during installation (flexible for installation)
  • Usage B: Can withstand continuous stretching for specified number of cycles

The degrees of reprocessing capability of printed flap boards covered by this standard are as follows:

  • Grade R: Flexible printed wiring that can withstand at least three solder and two solderless operations without terminal area degradation
  • Grade U: Flexible printed wiring that can withstand at least one soldering operation without terminal area degradation. This grade can only be used in electrical or electronic assemblies that do not require desoldering and resoldering capability. If not specified in the current master drawing, the default rework capability is R grade.

The type of printed circuit board flex base material covered by this standard should be defined by the applicable flex base material specification as required by the master drawing.

The type of printed wiring board rigid base material covered by this standard should be defined by the applicable base material specification as required by the master drawing.

Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the scope of MIL-PRF-50884 standard, printed circuit board, flexible or rigid-flexible, for performance characteristics. It also provides testing services.
