The “MIL-T-5038 G/H Military specification: Tape, textile and webbing, textile, reinforcement, nylon” standard, which is a military standard developed by the United States Department of Defense, describes the requirements for nylon reinforcement tape and webbing.

This standard is used for nylon tape binding and reinforcement purposes. It is made of nylon 6 or nylon 66 fiber. This standard is widely used for pet products, parachutes, harnesses, military webbing, military webbing, backpack straps and general use straps.
Tape and webbing classification will be in the following types and classes specified in the tables given in the standard in the required widths:
Where the purchasing documents referring to this standard do not specify the tape or fabric class, the requirements for class 1 or 1A (critical use) tape or fabric, excluding type III, shall apply. Unless otherwise specified, type III fabric is laid in a shuttleless or shuttle construction. A document-based PIN identifying tape and fabric types and classes is included in a separate section (Section 6).
The following specifications, standards and handbooks form part of this document to the extent specified herein:
Type II nylon tape is primarily used in applications where moisture resistance is critical. It is designed to protect against the effects of moisture, mold, and water. These tapes are coated with a special coating that makes them more resistant to moisture and fungus growth, making them suitable for use in damp or humid environments. Type II tape is often used in applications where moisture or water exposure is a concern, such as outdoor gear, military equipment, and marine applications.
Type III nylon tape is designed for use in applications requiring high strength and abrasion resistance. It offers excellent tensile strength and durability. These tapes are extremely durable and are engineered to resist wear and tear. It can withstand heavy loads and harsh conditions. Type III tape is typically used in load-bearing applications such as harnesses, straps and cargo securing. It is valuable in military, industrial and outdoor equipment.
Type IV nylon tape is designed for applications that require both moisture resistance and durability. It combines the features of Type II and Type III tape. These tapes have both moisture-resistant properties and high tensile strength, making them versatile in a variety of applications. Type IV tape is coated with a special coating that makes it more resistant to moisture and fungus growth, making it suitable for use in damp or humid environments. It can also withstand heavy loads and harsh conditions. Type IV tape is used in situations where both moisture protection and durability are required, such as military equipment, outdoor equipment, and industrial environments.
Among the numerous testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies that our organization has provided for businesses in various sectors, it also provides testing services defined in the “MIL-T-5038 G/H Military Specification: Tape, Textile and Weaving, Textile, Reinforcement, Nylon” standard with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
