The designation “CARB 2 compliant” generally refers to reducing new home odor from new cabinets, upholstery, carpets, paints or furniture. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released into the air degrade indoor air quality and can cause itchy eyes, headaches and respiratory problems.

Formaldehyde is one of the most common volatile organic compounds. Public safety organizations in the USA and European Union countries publish standards for the use of formaldehyde in composite wood materials. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has adopted a national practice to label products that comply with formaldehyde emission standards that went into effect in 2018.
Formaldehyde is a naturally occurring colorless gas that smells like pickles but is a known human carcinogen. It is generally used in morgues and medical laboratories as a preservative, disinfectant and resins that bind composite wood materials. It is also found at low levels in natural wood and is released into the environment through the combustion or outgassing of fossil fuels and wood.
CARB (California Air Resources Board) manages air quality and explores the causes and solutions of air pollution. The second phase of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure issued by this organization came into effect in 2010. The rule limits formaldehyde emissions from hardwood plywoods, medium-density fiberboards (MDF) and fiberboard, as well as from domestic and domestic spaces.
The limits set for formaldehyde emissions under CARB 2 are as follows:
There are many finished products made from composite wood materials. The main products are: kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets, shelves, furniture, engineered hardwood floors, skirting boards, interior doors, picture frames and children's toys.
CARB Phase II has been a national standard in the US since its first release. For a product to be compliant, it must pass quality control testing. Compliant products are labeled as “California 93120 formaldehyde compliant” or “California stage 2 compliant.”
Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it has given for businesses in various sectors, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, within the scope of CARB Phase II, hardwood plywoods, medium density fiberboards (MDF) and chipboards and domestic areas. It also provides formaldehyde emissions testing services.
