The standard “Rolling bearings - Boundary dimensions and tolerances of needle roller bearings - Part 1: Dimension series 48, 49 and 69” developed by the Japanese Industrial Standards Organization (JIS) describes the boundary dimensions, basic numbers and tolerances and permissible values of “Class 1512” for needle roller bearings in dimension series 48, 49 and 69 given in the standard “JIS B 0 Rolling bearings - Boundary dimensions”. These series are applicable to complete needle roller bearings and bearings without inner rings. This standard does not apply to drawn cup needle roller bearings.

This standard specifies the boundary dimensions and tolerances of needle roller bearings, which are intended to ensure compatibility and are not intended to assess conformity in accordance with this standard.
The boundary dimensions and tolerances for needle roller bearings other than dimension series 48, 49 and 69 are included in the standard appendix for reference (Appendix JA).
The international standard corresponding to this standard is “ISO 1206 Rolling bearings - Needle roller bearings with machined rings - Boundary dimensions, geometric product specifications (GPS) and tolerance values” published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Bearings are components designed to connect machine parts together. Bearings transmit motion and forces. They are usually mounted on axles or shafts and housed in housings. If a bearing transmits rotary motion, it is called a rolling bearing. Linear bearings are used for longitudinal motion. The type of friction involved distinguishes plain bearings from rolling bearings. Plain bearings are components that have a sliding layer between two parts. This sliding layer can be a solid layer fixed to the bearing, such as plastic or bronze layers. Otherwise, a lubricating film separates the surfaces.
Rolling bearings are bearings with two components that move in opposite directions. These parts are the inner and outer ring and are separated by rolling elements. The rolling elements roll between the two rings during operation. This occurs on hardened steel surfaces called raceways. The friction generated here is significantly lower than in plain bearings.
The rolling elements are the most important parts in a bearing because they carry most of the loads. Rolling elements come in different shapes: balls, cylindrical rollers, needle rollers, tapered rollers, or spherical rollers. The names of many types of bearings are based on the type of rolling element used, such as a ball bearing or needle roller bearing.
In modern bearings, a cage is used to provide equal spacing for the rolling elements. This prevents them from coming into contact with each other. Cages can be made of sheet steel, plastic or brass.
Additional components may be sealing shields or gaskets. Another important part of a bearing is the lubricant. Rolling bearings are lubricated with grease or oil to extend their operating life. The seal holds the lubricant in the bearing and prevents dirt and moisture from entering.
Bearings must meet stringent quality requirements. They must be able to support high loads and have a long operating life. Extremely high accuracy is required during bearing manufacturing to ensure that the bearings operate smoothly and save energy in the application. All components must be matched very precisely. The only permissible deviations are in the micron range.
A needle roller bearing is a special type of roller bearing that uses long, thin cylindrical rollers that resemble needles. Ordinary roller bearings have rollers only slightly longer than their diameter, but needle bearings usually have rollers at least four times longer than their diameter.
Our organization has a strong staff that closely follows the developments in science and technology in the world and constantly improves itself. Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies provided for businesses in various sectors, there are also testing services in accordance with the standard “JIS Z 1536-1 Rolling bearings - Limit dimensions and tolerances of needle roller bearings - Part 1: Dimension series 48, 49 and 69”.
