The standard EN ISO 283 Textile conveyor belts - Tensile strength through full thickness, elongation at break and elongation at reference load - Test method", which has its basis in a European standard and was subsequently published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), describes a test method for determining the tensile strength through full thickness, elongation at reference force and elongation at break in the longitudinal direction of conveyor belts with a textile carcass. This method can also be used to determine the tensile strength through full thickness and elongation at break in the transverse direction, for use when the manufacturer is requested by the purchaser to specify values for these properties. This international standard is not suitable or applicable for lightweight conveyor belts as described in ISO 21183-1 Lightweight conveyor belts - Part 1: ISO 21183-1 Main characteristics and applications.

For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply:
In principle, a test piece cut from the entire thickness of the conveyor belt is stretched using a tensile testing machine under specified conditions until the test piece breaks.
The main equipment used in these tests includes:
The shape and dimensions of the test piece shall conform to the figures. The test pieces shall be selected parallel to or at right angles to the axis of the belt and at least 50 mm from the edge of the belt. If the test pieces are selected from a sample cut from the belt, no test piece shall be cut so that its longitudinal edge is less than 12 mm from the edge of the sample. In all cases, the cut or sawn edges of the test piece shall be perpendicular to its surface. No test piece shall contain a layer joint. For a type D test piece, draw the form of the test piece onto the surface of the belt or sample and cut five times from each edge of the sample to the drawn lines with an electric saw. The type D test piece shown in the figure shall be limited to testing conveyor belts having a tensile strength greater than 2000 N/mm.
A conveyor belt is the transport medium of the belt conveyor system available today. Each conveyor system requires different modules to function properly and perform the tasks required by the belts.
Our organization has a strong staff that closely follows the developments in the world in the field of science and technology and constantly improves itself. Among the numerous tests, measurements, analyses and evaluation studies provided for businesses in various sectors, there are also testing services in accordance with the standard “EN ISO 283 Textile conveyor belts - Full thickness tensile strength, elongation at break and elongation at reference load - Test method”.
