For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions given in the ISO 8330 standard apply.
Hoses and hose assemblies are specified based on their electrical characteristics as follows:
The hose must consist of:
Depending on the class, the structure may include a conductive rubber layer or a bonding wire or wires of at least nine wires with high fatigue resistance. The liner and sheath must be concentric and of uniform thickness to meet the minimum thickness specified in this standard. The liner and sheath must be free of holes, pores, and other defects. The sheath surface may be smooth or fabric-marked.
The dimensions are determined in this standard as follows:
In the case of rubber compounds, the physical properties of the compounds used for lining and coating, when tested using the methods listed in the table provided in the standard, must conform to the values specified in the table. Tests should be conducted on samples taken from the hose or individually vulcanized sheets, 2 mm thick for tensile/elongation tests and thicker for abrasion tests. These should be vulcanized to the same cure state as the production hoses.
Finished hoses and hose assemblies, when measured by the methods listed in the table provided in the standard, shall have physical properties that conform to the values specified in the table.
Type testing and routine testing are performed as specified in the standard's annex (Annex A). Type testing is the test required to verify that a specific hose design manufactured by a specified method meets all the requirements of this standard. Tests are repeated at intervals of up to five years or whenever there is a change in the production method or materials used. Tests are performed on all sizes and on all classes and types except those of the same size and construction. Routine testing is the test that should be performed on each length of finished hose before shipment. Production acceptance tests are the tests specified in the standard's annex (Annex B), which should preferably be performed to verify production quality. The frequencies specified here are provided as a guide only.
The ISO 3861 standard is essential because it provides internationally recognized specifications for rubber hoses used in air applications, particularly in compressors and pneumatic systems. The key reasons for this standard's importance are:
In short, the ISO 3861 standard is essential to provide a consistent, safe and reliable framework for the manufacture and use of rubber air hoses, promoting efficiency, safety and compatibility in industrial and commercial pneumatic systems.
Our organization, which has been supporting businesses across all sectors for years through a wide range of testing, measurement, analysis, and evaluation activities, has a strong team of employees who closely follow global developments in science and technology and are constantly improving themselves. In this context, we also provide testing services in accordance with the ISO 3861 "Rubber hoses and hose assemblies for sand and gravel spraying - Specification."
