The BS 7177 standard, which is a European standard, describes the requirements for beds, sofas and plinths. This standard contains requirements for the ignition resistance of mattresses, daybeds and plinths when tested according to BS EN 597-1, BS EN 597-2 and BS 6807 standards, including those used outdoors. Ignition resistance levels were determined after careful consideration of the fire risk of the respective end-use environment. These levels do not necessarily reflect the behavior of the mattress, daybed or bed base in a fully developed fire.

Regarding the BS 7177 standard,
According to the BS 7177 standard, the greater the perceived risk, the higher the level of danger and, as a result, more stringent testing requirements for applied ignition sources.
The use of fire safety standards for upholstered furniture, such as BS 7176 and BS 7177, aims to assist all parties in ensuring the fire safety of upholstered furniture for different end-use applications by using clearly defined ignition sources according to the hazard level determined by fire safety risk assessment.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides resistance testing services for mattresses, mattress pads, sofas and plinths within the scope of BS 7177 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
