The EN ISO 12952-2 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) provides a test method for assessing the flammability of all bedding when exposed to the equivalent of a match flame.

The ISO 12952-2 standard applies generally to bedding placed on a mattress, for example for textiles such as:
This standard does not apply to mattresses and cots.
The ISO 12952-2 standard is used to assess the flammability of individual bedding sets and composite arrangements . However, this test only concerns the flammability of materials under specific test conditions. It is not designed to assess the entire potential fire hazard of bedding in use.
In order to use bedding, especially in high-risk healthcare environments, these products must be resistant to ignition according to EN ISO 12952-1 and EN ISO 12952-2 standards.
These tests are performed in a test cabinet with calibrated airflow. The test sample is placed on a mineral wool substrate, on top of steel hardware. Ignition sources are applied to flat surfaces, quilts, edge bands, duvet covers and between sheets.
The test assembly is exposed to the gas flame for 15 seconds. It is not allowed to continue flaming for more than 120 seconds after removal of the ignition source. In addition, the sample should not be burned until it is consumed within the test period. The bearing must not produce visible amounts of smoke, heat or glow after the ignition source has been withdrawn.
In terms of ignition, there is no difference between testing a full-scale bedding or a small-scale sample. It is more practical to use small samples during testing.
Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, also provides services for the evaluation of the flammability of bedding sets within the scope of EN ISO 12952-2 standard, the ignition source match flame equivalent test services, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment. .
