The EN 1335 standard, which is a European standard, consists of four parts under the main title "Office furniture - Office desk chair":

The EN 1335-3 standard describes the mechanical test methods for determining the stability, strength and durability of office office chairs. This standard does not include type approval tests for seat components. The test methods presented in this standard are designed to be applied to a fully assembled and ready-to-use piece of furniture. These tests consist of applying forces simulating normal functional use and misuse that would reasonably be expected to occur to various parts of the specimen. This standard is designed solely for the purpose of evaluating features, regardless of material, design or manufacturing processes.
Test results are valid only for the tested product. When the test results are intended to be applied to other similar articles, it is considered important that the test sample represents the production model.
Testing performed according to this standard is intended to demonstrate the sample's ability to provide satisfactory service in its intended environment. The safety requirements of the seats are described in the EN 1335-2 standard. Additional loads, masses and cycles for functional tests are included in the standard annex (Annex C).
Further annexes to the standard describe the requirements for the design of seat-loading cushions (Annex A) and data for the design of stability-loading cushions (Annex B).
This testing method was developed for unused components. However, it is also used for failure investigation when properly justified. Furthermore, this standard does not include requirements for resistance to aging, deterioration, and flammability. Likewise, the tests are not intended to evaluate the durability of the flooring, i.e., the filling materials.
In the intended use of this standard, office work chair refers to single seat furniture with or without backrest, armrests, the upper part including the seat can be rotated in the horizontal plane and the height can be adjusted.
Our organization also provides office chair testing services within the scope of EN 1335-3 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
