The European standard "EN 13162 Thermal insulation products for buildings - Factory-made mineral wool (MW) products - Specification" describes the requirements for factory-made mineral wool products, whether or not they have surfaces or coatings, used for thermal insulation of buildings. The products are manufactured in the form of mat sheets, boards or slabs. The products covered by this standard are also used in prefabricated thermal insulation systems and composite panels. The performance of systems containing these products is outside the scope of this standard.

This standard describes product characteristics and includes procedures for testing, conformity assessment, marking and labelling. This standard does not specify the required level of a particular characteristic that a product must achieve to demonstrate its fitness for purpose in a particular application. The levels required for a particular application are found in regulations or non-conflicting standards.
Products with a declared thermal resistance at 10 degrees less than 0,25 m²⋅K / W or a declared thermal conductivity greater than 0,060 W/(m⋅K ) are outside the scope of this standard. This standard does not cover in-situ insulation products covered by EN 14064-1 and EN 14064-2 standards, or products intended for insulation of building equipment and industrial facilities covered by EN 14303.
For the purposes of this standard, the following definitions apply in addition to the terms and definitions given in EN ISO 9229:
In order to comply with this standard in terms of product properties, products must meet the requirements of this standard. Mineral wool is anisotropic and the result of a measurement perpendicular to the surfaces is different for many properties (e.g. thermal and mechanical properties) from the result of a measurement parallel to the surfaces. For boards to make lamellar products, tests should be carried out taking the length as the thickness and the thickness as the length to test the performance of the final product. A test result for a product property is the average of the values measured on a number of test specimens in the table given in the standard. For multilayer products, additional requirements are given in the annex of the standard (Annex C).
In all applications, thermal resistance and thermal conductivity shall be based on measurements carried out in accordance with EN 12667 or EN 12939 for thick products. Thermal resistance and thermal conductivity shall be determined in accordance with Annex A and declared by the manufacturer according to the following principles:
Our organization, which has been trying to support businesses from every sector with its testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies carried out in a wide range for years, has a strong staff that closely follows the developments in the world in the field of science and technology and constantly improves itself. In this context, testing services are also provided to businesses in accordance with the "EN 13162 Thermal insulation products for buildings - Factory-made mineral wool (MW) products - Specification" standard.
