  • The standard “EN 1888-1 Part 1: Pushchairs and baby carriages” specifies the safety requirements and test methods for baby carriages and pushchairs designed for the carriage of one or more children, each weighing up to 15 kg and up to 20 kg for any integrated platform on which a child can stand. This standard does not cover toys, wheeled baby carriers, pushchairs and pushchairs propelled by a motor, and pushchairs and pushchairs designed for children with special needs. If any part of a pushchair or pushchair has more than one function or can be converted to another function, it must comply with the relevant standards.

Unless otherwise stated, they must be performed in order and each test must be performed using only one vehicle. Vehicles with more than one space for pushchair frames or seat units must comply with all applicable requirements in all possible regulations in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. If a vehicle can be equipped with an additional seat unit or pushchair frame supplied or recommended by the manufacturer, the combination must comply with this standard.

  • The standard "EN 1888-2 Part 2: Pushchairs for children over 15 kg up to 22 kg" specifies additional safety requirements and test methods for pushchairs designed to transport one or more children over 15 kg and each weighing up to 22 kg. This standard applies together with and in addition to the standard EN 1888-1 and cannot be used separately.

In terms of general requirements and test conditions, the vehicle must meet the requirements of EN 1888-1. To meet the requirements of this standard, the vehicle must be additionally tested according to the items listed in this standard and in the order given in EN 1888-1.

The test mass shall be a rigid cylinder with a diameter of 220 mm plus/minus 5 mm and a height of 320 mm plus/minus 5 mm, a mass of 22 kg plus/minus 0,1/0 kg and a centre of gravity at the centre of the cylinder. All edges shall have a radius of 5 mm plus/minus 1 mm. Two anchor points shall be provided at a distance of 160 mm plus/minus 2,5 mm from the base and positioned at 180 degrees to each other along the circumference. The test mass may be fitted with an additional handle for carrying purposes, provided that the centre of gravity is not altered and the mass remains within tolerances and the test procedure is not affected.

  • The standard “EN 1888-3 Part 3: Strollers designed for recreational sports activities” describes the safety requirements for strollers designed for the transport of one or two children, each weighing up to 15 or 22 kg, when used for running/jogging or skating (excluding ice skating). Strollers designed to push the caregiver (e.g. longboard and stroller combination) are outside the scope of this standard. This standard is valid together with and in addition to the standards EN 1888 1 or EN 1888-2 and cannot be used separately. If the product has more than one function or can be converted to another function, the relevant standards apply.

The vehicle must meet the requirements of EN 1888-1 and, if applicable, the requirements of EN 1888-2. It must comply with EN 1888-1 except for the warning phrase "This product is not suitable for running or skating". In order to meet the requirements of this standard, the vehicle must be additionally tested in accordance with the condition in the annex of the standard (Annex A).

Additional tests of this standard are carried out together with the relevant articles of EN 1888-1 and EN 1888-2 standards, if any. All tests are carried out on the same sample.

The stop bar used in these tests is a rigid square bar with dimensions of 100 mm × 100 mm and a radius of 3 mm. The length of the stop bar should be at least the width of the stroller.
