The law, known briefly as the German product safety law, regulates the principles aimed at ensuring the supply of safe products on the market. It outlines the safety requirements that technical equipment and consumer products in Germany must meet. Enacted in 2011, this law replaced the previous German equipment and product safety law.

Product safety law defines products as goods, substances or preparations created in accordance with a manufacturing process. Consumer goods are defined in this law as new, used or refurbished products that can be used by consumers even if they are not intended for consumer use or under reasonably foreseeable conditions. As a result, the majority of products, including the majority of work equipment, are consumer products as defined in this law.
Product safety law applies to all products offered to consumers in the course of a business activity or displayed at trade fairs. If certain products have been installed by users, for example a machine has been installed, this law also applies when the product is used for the first time.
Products available on the market should not pose a risk to people's safety and health. Manufacturers must consider both the intended use and foreseeable use of a product.
Additional requirements are also included in the law for consumer products. For example, all consumer products must bear the manufacturer's title, contact address, and product identification information. These requirements are based on the European product safety directive 2001/95/EC.
Again, according to this law, manufacturers, representatives, importers and distributors must work in close contact with market surveillance authorities and unsafe products must be reported to the authorities.
Ready-to-use products may use a tested safety mark if authorized by an authorized body.
Product safety law also defines the duties that market surveillance authorities must perform.
Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides necessary testing services in terms of compliance with the law on product supply in the market within the scope of product safety, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
