ISO 6925 Textile Flooring - Combustion Behavior - Tablet Test at Ambient Temperature

ISO 6925 Textile Flooring - Combustion Behavior - Tablet Test at Ambient Temperature

The method defined in the ISO 6925 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO) applies to all types of textile floor coverings, regardless of its structure or fiber composition.

ISO 6925 Textile Flooring - Combustion Behavior - Tablet Test at Ambient Temperature

The ISO 6925 standard defines a test method for evaluating the generally superficial burning behavior of textile floor coverings in the horizontal position when exposed to a small ignition source under controlled laboratory conditions. In this test method, the results obtained on samples in a horizontal position do not apply to the behavior of a textile floor covering, especially when used in a vertical position in another position.

The current method is used to evaluate the properties of materials or systems in response to heat and flame under controlled laboratory conditions, but is not used to assess the hazard of textile flooring under real fire conditions. The method has been widely used for acceptance testing in the trade and is considered satisfactory as a test for acceptance of goods, provided that an appropriate sampling plan taken from the ISO 2859 standard is used.

Quite obviously, different floor coverings have different levels of fire resistance. Today, there are a number of products that increase the fire resistance of floor coverings. These are chemical compounds that, when applied in general, add a protective layer to stop a fire from starting or spreading. If a fire retardant spray is to be used, it must be ensured that it complies with the BS 5438 standard and has been tested to the BS 4790 standard. These are the labels of the products.

There are many features in the evaluation of flame retardancy or late flammability in textile products. In the published standards, there are many test methods developed depending on the type of material, combustion behavior, material formation, surface structure, flame source and many variables. The ISO 6925 standard is among the most widely used standards. This standard includes tablet tests at ambient temperature to determine the burning character of textile floor coverings within the scope of flammability tests.

Among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, our organization also provides tablet testing services at ambient temperature for the burning behavior of textile floor coverings within the scope of ISO 6925 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
