EN ISO 4064-1 Water Meters for Cold Drinking Water and Hot Water

EN ISO 4064-1 Water Meters for Cold Drinking Water and Hot Water

The EN ISO 4064-1 standard, which is a European standard and reissued by the International Standards Organization (ISO), describes the metrological and technical requirements of water meters for cold drinking water and hot water flowing through a fully charged, closed channel. These water meters contain integrated volume indicating devices.

EN ISO 4064-1 Water Meters for Cold Drinking Water and Hot Water

In addition to water meters based on mechanical principles, this standard applies to devices based on mechanical principles, including electrical or electronic principles and electronic devices used to measure the volume of cold drinking water and hot water.

The EN ISO 4064-1 standard also applies to electronic assistive devices. Assistive devices are optional. However, it is possible that national or regional regulations regarding the use of water meters may require some auxiliary devices.

The standard in question constitutes the first part of a series of standards consisting of the following parts:

  • EN ISO 4064-1 Part 1: Metrological and technical requirements
  • EN ISO 4064-2 Part 2: Test methods
  • EN ISO 4064-3 Part 3: Test report format
  • EN ISO 4064-4 Part 4: Non-metrological requirements not covered by the ISO 4064-1 standard
  • EN ISO 4064-5 Part 5: Installation requirements

A water meter is a device designed to continuously measure, store and display the volume of water passing through the measuring transducer under measurement conditions. A water meter includes at least one measuring transducer, a calculator (including adjusting or correcting devices) and a display device. A water meter can be in a combined meter.

The meter transducer is the part of the meter that contains a sensor and converts the flow rate or volume of water to be measured into signals transmitted to a calculator. The sensor is a meter element that is directly affected by an object, body, or substance carrying the quantity to be measured. This element detects the flow rate or volume of water passing through the meter. The calculator is the part of the measuring device that converts the output signals from the respective measuring devices and, if appropriate, stores the results in its memory until they are used.

Our organization also provides water meters testing services for cold drinking water and hot water within the scope of EN ISO 4064-1 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
