Ether-insoluble substances are impurities found in oil, such as sand, soil, and other contaminants. In other words, all impurities in olive oil, excluding volatile substances, are ether-insoluble impurities. This is an indicator of poor practices during olive oil production. Ether-insoluble substances include soil, sand, oxidized fatty acids, minerals, carbohydrates, nitrogenous substances, some types of resins, and some calcium and alkali soaps.

One of the fundamental conditions for producing high-quality olive oil is harvesting the olives at the right time and using the right method. However, even the highest quality olives will produce poor quality oil if processed improperly. Quality control parameters in olive oil fall into two groups: parameters that determine quality and parameters that determine purity. Quality-determining parameters include ether-insoluble impurities, as well as free fatty acid content, peroxide determination, UV absorption values, moisture and volatile matter, heavy metals, and sensory characteristics.
A standard considered in the determination of insoluble impurities is: TS EN ISO 663 Animal and vegetable fats and oils - Determination of insoluble impurity content.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. These studies are based on the latest technological equipment, trained and experienced staff and modern methods. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also services for the determination of impurities insoluble in ether.
