Surveillance and monitoring of synthetic sweeteners is an important issue for public health and food safety. For this purpose, synthetic sweetener levels in different foodstuffs are controlled by legal regulations and national and international standards. In advanced laboratories, sweetener levels such as aspartame, acesulfame potassium and saccharin used in different food products are determined and the highest usage limits are evaluated according to Codex Alimentarius. Codex Alimentarius is the collection of internationally accepted standards, codes of practice, guidelines and other recommendations for food, food production, food labeling and food safety. In a recent study, synthetic sweeteners were found in up to 93 percent of the samples.

Synthetic sweeteners are an important class of food additives that provide a sweetening sensation hundreds of times stronger than regular sugar. It is generally used in beverage, food, pharmaceutical industries and confectionery. These substances have no or very low food energy intake. For this reason, they are also known as non-nutritive sweeteners.
Especially in the food industry, artificial sweeteners are used to produce low-calorie beverages and food products. Light or diet products help maintain body weight, treat obesity, and manage diabetes.
In the test, analysis, measurement and evaluation studies carried out in our organization, national and international standards and applicable legal regulations are complied with and reliable and impartial results are obtained. Among the numerous tests carried out in this context, there are also sweetener determination services in foods.
