Folate is the natural form of vitamin B9, which is water-soluble and occurs naturally in many foods. It is also added to foods later. Folate helps make DNA and RNA and plays a role in protein metabolism. When present in high amounts, it plays a key role in the breakdown of homocysteine, an amino acid that has harmful effects in the body. Folate is also essential for producing healthy red blood cells and is critical in pregnancy.

A wide variety of foods naturally contain folate, but folic acid, the form added to foods and supplements, is better absorbed. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the addition of folic acid to commonly consumed foodstuffs, including breads, cereals, pasta, rice and other grain products.
Good sources of folate include: dark green leafy vegetables (turnips, spinach, lettuce, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, broccoli), beans, peanuts, sunflower seeds, fresh fruits, juices, whole grains, seafood, eggs, and fortified foods and supplements .
In our organization, testing, analysis, measurement, and evaluation studies comply with national and international standards and current legal regulations, ensuring reliable and impartial results. These studies are based on state-of-the-art technological equipment, a trained and experienced staff, and modern methods. Among the numerous tests conducted within this scope are analyses of food product follow-on formulas and vitamin B9 (folic acid).
