(EC) No. 66/2014 Regulation Tests

Regulation (EC) 66/2014, published by the European Parliament and of the Council , aims to implement Directive 2009/125/EC on eco-design requirements for household ovens, cooktops and range hoods.

This regulation sets out the ecodesign requirements for placing on the market and putting into service of domestic ovens (which may be included in cookers), domestic cookers and household electric hoods, including when sold for non-domestic purposes.

This regulation does not apply to:

• Devices using energy sources other than electricity or gas
• Devices that offer microwave heating function
• small ovens
• portable ovens
• heat storage furnaces
• Ovens heated with steam as the primary heating function
• Closed gas burners on stoves
• Appliances designed for use with third-family (propane and butane) gases only
• Grids

For the purposes of this legal regulation,

• Oven refers to an appliance or part of an appliance that contains one or more cavities using electricity or gas, in which food is prepared using conventional or fanned mode.
• The cavity refers to the closed chamber where the temperature can be controlled for the preparation of food.
• Multi-chamber oven refers to an oven with two or more chambers, each of which is heated separately.
• Small oven refers to an oven with all cavities less than 250 mm in width and depth or 120 mm in height.
• Portable oven refers to an oven with a product mass of less than 18 kilograms, provided it is not designed for built-in installations.
• Microwave heating refers to the heating of food using electromagnetic energy.
• Conventional mode refers to the operating mode of an oven that uses only natural convection to circulate heated air within the oven cavity.

Eco requirements, including timing, for domestic ovens, cookers and hoods are given in this regulatory annex (Annex I). Compliance with eco design requirements should be measured and calculated according to the methods set out in Annex II.
