DIN 128 Curved Spring Lock Washers

DIN 128 Curved Spring Lock Washers

Spring washers, as defined in the DIN 128 standard published by the German Standardization Institute (DIN), are designed for use with bolt/nut assemblies containing fasteners with a specification class lower than 8,8, as specified in the DIN EN 20898-1 standard. These washers aim to eliminate the settling effect that causes loosening of bolt/nut assemblies. This standard is designed to eliminate the settling effect that causes loose bolt assemblies. Such washers do not effectively prevent the assembly from loosening under varying radial loads and are primarily designed for use with short bolts subjected to compression.

DIN 128 Curved Spring Lock Washers

Curved spring lock washers are split spring washers that are said to be more resistant to vibration than split helical spring washers and prevent thrust loosening by maintaining a sufficiently high preload. This type of washers can be used with both right and left bolted connections as their design is not helical. Zinc plated and smooth surface (non-coated and rustproof) spring steel and stainless steel are available. The washer size, which is the nominal hole size, must match the screw size. For new designs, the DIN 127 standard is recommended instead of the DIN 128 standard.

Curved washers apply gentle pressure to their mating portion to resist loosening of machine components caused by vibration. Like wavy washers, curved washers are used to evenly distribute threaded bolt, screw and nut loads. Also, the inside diameter of a curved washer can be adapted to a particular load/deflection function.

Curved washers are often used to absorb axial end play. It provides a uniform spring rate and load distribution. It is possible to reuse for general applications. It is produced as spring steel and stainless steel. For more precise applications, the height lifted must be within tolerance. Washers are not always necessary, but it is still common practice to use them. Spring washers add tension to a fastener assembly and are used to absorb a shock or vibration.

Our organization, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors, also provides testing services for curved spring lock washers within the scope of DIN 128 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
