The DIN 1477 standard published by the German Standardization Institute (DIN) defines the requirements for countersunk threaded pins.

Similarly, in the ISO 8747 standard published by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the characteristics of countersunk threaded pins with three equally spaced threads with a nominal diameter of 1,4 mm to 20 mm (inclusive) longitudinally on their outer surfaces are described (ISO). 8747 Countersunk splined pins). Material shifted to either side of the grooves creating an enlarged diameter greater than the nominal diameter causes a non-positive locking fit when these slotted pins are forced into a drilled hole equal to the nominal diameter.
According to this ISO standard, countersunk threaded pins are of two types. Types A and B are left to the discretion of the supplier or are specially ordered by the customer. Namely,
The enlarged diameter applies only to pins made of cold-positioned steel. For other materials, such as stainless steel, a discount amount should be deducted from the given values and agreed upon between the customer and the supplier. The diameter of the hole into which the threaded pin is inserted must be equal to the nominal diameter of the matching pin and have a tolerance class of H11. The shape of the groove is at the discretion of the supplier.
Unless otherwise specified in the agreement between the customer and the supplier, the finish of the pins must be a natural polish treated with a protective lubricant. Preferred coatings are zinc plating with black oxide, phosphate coating, or chromate conversion coating (compliance with ISO 9717 and ISO 4042 standards is required). Other coatings agreed upon between the customer and the supplier are also acceptable. All tolerances must be met before the application of a coating. The pins must be free from irregularities or harmful defects. The acceptance procedure is governed by ISO 3269.
Our organization, among the numerous tests, measurements, analyses, and evaluations it provides for businesses in various sectors, also offers testing services for countersunk threaded pins under the DIN 1477 standard and the ISO 8747 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment.
