The DIN 7978 standard, published by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), describes the requirements for internally threaded tapered pins.

Similarly, the ISO 8736 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) describes the specifications of internally threaded unhardened tapered pins , including metric dimensions and nominal diameters from 6 to 50 mm (ISO 8736 Unhardened internally threaded tapered pins).
In the DIN 7978 standard, the requirements for internal threaded taper pins are under the following headings:
Threaded taper pins are round pins that increase in diameter evenly over the length of the pin and have an internal threaded hole at the large end. These pins are used in taper holes where there is access to only one side of the hole. Since the small end of the pin is inserted first, it is used to assist with critical alignments. It can snap into a hole that isn't quite aligned, forcing the two holes to line up exactly as the diameter of the pin increases. Threaded taper pins are also used in assemblies that are expected to be disassembled and reassembled more frequently as they are easier to insert and remove than spring tension pins. Internally threaded taper pins are removed by screwing an extraction tool into the thread of the pin and applying leverage. Metric taper pins have a taper of 1:50. That is, the diameter increases by 50 mm for every 1 mm of length. The nominal size is the diameter of the small tip on the pin.
Briefly, taper pins are mostly used to lock two shafts together. These pins are extremely resistant to vibrations and minor movements and completely prevent any loosening within the constructed structure.
