EN 13963 Joint Materials - For Gypsum Boards - Recipes, Requirements and Test Methods

The EN 13963 standard, a European standard, describes definitions and requirements for bonding materials within the scope of gypsum boards, and provides test methods.

EN 13963 Joint Materials - For Gypsum Boards - Recipes, Requirements and Test Methods

This standard contains requirements for the following materials:

  • Grouting compounds and paper tapes used for filling and finishing the joints formed at the edges and ends of gypsum boards in accordance with the EN 520 standard (this standard is the standard for plasterboards).
  • Products from secondary processing in accordance with the EN 14190 standard, prefabricated drywall panels with cellular cardboard (this standard is the standard for gypsum boards obtained by reprocessing).
  • Core conforming to the EN 13915 standard (this is the standard for prefabricated, hollow, cardboard core, panel gypsum boards).
  • Thermal / acoustic composite panels in accordance with the EN 13950 standard (this standard is the thermal / sound insulated composite plasterboards standard).
  • Preformed plasterboard cornices in accordance with EN 14209 standard (this is the standard for preformed plasterboard brackets).
  • Fiber-reinforced gypsum boards in accordance with EN 15283 1 and EN 15283 2 standards (these are the standards for fiber-reinforced gypsum boards).
  • The test methods in the EN 13963 standard are intended to determine the reaction to fire and bending strength values to be measured.

In the EN 13963 standard, the requirements are organized under the following headings:

  • Reaction to fire
  • Bending strength (expressed as breaking load)
  • Dangerous materials
  • Setting time
  • Cracking
  • Particle size distribution
  • adhesion / cohesion
  • Dimensional stability of paper tape
  • Tensile strength of paper tape
  • Additional requirements for coupling compounds

Test methods in the EN 13963 standard are given under the following headings:

  • Sampling
  • Determination of setting time (principle, device and materials and procedure)

In the tests, basically at least three samples are tested, and especially in these tests, the reaction to fire and bending strength of the materials are evaluated.

This standard does not include tapes made from materials other than paper.

Our organization also provides testing services for joint materials and plasterboards within the scope of EN 13963 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
