The BS 5131 standard, developed by the British Standards Institute (BSI), consists of the following sections under the main title of "Test methods for shoes and footwear materials":

The BS 5131-0 standard lists the test methods given in the subsections of the BS 5131 standard, along with a list of other methods used to test shoe materials.
Standard BS 5131-1-1 describes a method of measuring resistance when subjected to a constant peeling force at a controlled elevated temperature over a timed interval.
Standard BS 5131-1.2 describes a method for measuring the resistance of an adhesive joint when subjected to peeling at a constant release rate.
The BS 5131-1.4 standard defines a procedure based on requirements for adhesives that attach shoe soles.
Standard BS 5131-1.6 describes a method for treating adhesive joints prepared in the laboratory.
The BS 5131-1.7 standard describes the method of preparing test setups that simulate shoe manufacturing conditions.
The BS 5131-1.8 standard defines a method for evaluating and comparing the properties and application conditions of hot melt adhesives, especially in permanent processes.
The BS 5131-1.9 standard defines a method for measuring the resistance to peeling of an adhesive joint between two sheet materials after they are made. This method is commonly known as green power.
Standard BS 5131-2.1 describes a method for determining the resistance of the base material (before or after various pretreatments) to the growth of a cut in the material caused by flexing.
Standard BS 5131-2.7 describes a method for preparing test plates and parts from manufactured bases or covering materials, or from moldable or vulcanizable materials. It also describes the time intervals between preparing the plates and cutting the test pieces.
The BS 5131-2.10 standard describes a test method for determining linear shrinkage after heating. This standard is considered together with the BS 5131-0 standard.
Standard BS 5131-2.11 describes a test method for the visual assessment of damage before and after bending the specimen after 60 seconds of contact. This method can be applied to any flexible base material.
Standard BS 5131-3.1 describes a method of measuring the strength of an upper or lining material at the seam line when a normal seam is made.
The BS 5131-3.4 standard describes a method for measuring how much shoe upper materials will flex or compress in the edge direction without creating folds or creases.
The BS 5131-3.5 standard defines a method for assessing the amount of wrinkling of the upper skin grain or the upper surface of a synthetic material when folded inwards to a standard curvature.
Standard BS 5131-3.6 describes a method for determining wear resistance in both the dry and wet condition.
The BS 5131-3.7 standard defines a method for determining fracture strength both in equilibrium with the standard atmosphere for testing and in the wet condition.
The BS 5131-4.1 standard defines the method for determining the resistance to peeling of the insole board.
The BS 5131-4.2 standard defines the method for evaluating the flexural strength of fiberboard.
Standard BS 5131-4.4 describes a method of measuring its ability to hold a heel pin and prevent its head from pulling out of fiberboard. This standard is considered together with the BS 5131-0 standard.
The BS 5131-4.5 standard defines the fiberboard method in both the air-conditioned and wet condition.
The BS 5131-4.6 standard defines a method for determining the shear strength of ribs stuck to insoles.
The BS 5131-4.7 standard defines a method for determining the resistance to peeling of ribs stuck in insoles.
The BS 5131-4.8 standard defines the method of determining the impact strength of heels when subjected to heavy impacts.
The BS 5131-4.12 standard defines a method for determining the finishes applied to fiberboard, both in terms of damage to the finish and color transfer to the friction material. This standard is considered together with the BS 5131-0 standard.
Standard BS 5131-5.1 defines the method for determining the adhesion properties of glued and molded soles.
The BS 5131-5.2 standard defines the method for determining the degree of vulcanization of molded rubber soles.
A qualitative test method is defined in the BS 5131-5.3 standard.
The BS 5131-5.4 standard defines the method for determining the bond between the sole and upper part of the finished shoe.
Standard BS 5131-5.6 describes a test method designed to reproduce the effect of occasional heavy impacts (such as a stumbling or falling).
The BS 5131-5.7 standard describes a test method that reproduces the effects of repeated forces applied to the unit in normal walking.
The BS 5131-5.9 standard defines the measurement method of the force required to separate the upper part from under the heel of the shoe.
Standard BS 5131-5.11 describes a method of measuring the strength of the weakest link in a complete assembly removed from a shoe.
The BS 5131-5.13 standard defines a method for determining the breaking strength of stitched seams taken directly from shoes or made to simulate a shoe structure.
BS 5131-6.1 provides recommendations for trials to evaluate new manufacturing processes, materials, styles, or other features.
The BS 5131-6.2 standard provides recommendations for wearing trials on new shoe styles.
Our organization also provides testing services for shoes and shoe materials within the scope of BS 5131 standard, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
