UN / ECE R 100 Tests

Homologation and UN ECE Automotive Type Approval Tests

UN / ECE R 100 Tests

UN ECE R100 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of the safety requirements of M and N category road vehicles regarding electric powertrains.

UN / ECE R 100 Tests

This regulation applies to the safety requirements relating to the electric powertrain of category M and N road vehicles equipped with one or more traction motor(s), both electric and non-electric, with a maximum design speed exceeding 25 km/h. This regulation does not cover the post-crash safety requirements of road vehicles.

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation 100 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) — Covers the uniform provisions for the approval of vehicles and the tests applied accordingly, with regard to the special requirements for the electric powertrain.

The application for approval of a vehicle type with respect to the specific requirements for the electric powertrain shall be made by the vehicle manufacturer or its duly accredited representative.

Within the scope of the regulation, many mechanical, dynamic and environmental tests are carried out as well as measurements for the approval of the relevant equipment. For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
