Homologation and UN ECE Automotive Type Approval Tests

UN / ECE R 44 Tests

UN ECE R44 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of child restraint systems suitable for installation on motor vehicles with three or more wheels and not intended for use with folding (folding) or side-facing seats.

UN / ECE R 44 Tests

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.

Regulation 44 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of safety devices for child passengers in motor vehicles (child restraint systems) and the tests applied accordingly.

Child restraint system (protector) means an arrangement of components that may include a combination of straps with safety buckles or flexible components, adjusting devices, attachments and in some cases as a carrycot, baby carrier, additional chair and in some cases as an additional device. It is designed to reduce the risk of injury to the user by limiting the user's body mobility in the event of a collision or sudden vehicle deceleration.

'Isofix' is a system for attaching child restraint systems to vehicles with two vehicle fixed mounts, two corresponding fixed mounts on the child restraint system and a vehicle for limiting the tilt rotation of the child restraint system.

A series of dynamic and mechanical tests are performed within the scope of UN ECE R44 tests. The test report should record the results of all tests and measurements (including the deceleration curve of the car and the recording of the time the dummy's head reaches its maximum displacement during the performance of the dynamic test).

For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
