UN / ECE R 71 Tests

UN ECE R71 tests cover a series of tests carried out in accordance with the relevant regulation for the evaluation of vehicles in the categories specified in the regulation in terms of rear signage plates and plates.

ECE regulations define cross-border technical regulations for establishing approval or uniform approval procedures for motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts. Automated commercial vehicles are already fully eligible for approval only through appropriate individual measures in the country in which they will be used. What is missing is a set of rules at the international ECE level.  

Regulation No. 71 (UN/ECE) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe — It covers the uniform provisions regarding the approval of tractors used for agriculture within the scope of the driver's field of vision and the tests applied accordingly.

An agricultural tractor is a motor vehicle with at least two axles, whose function is mainly dependent on traction and whose function is to actuate certain implements, machinery or trailers intended in particular for pulling, pushing, transporting or for use in agriculture and forestry.

This Regulation applies to the 180º forward field of vision of agricultural tractor drivers. "Field of vision" means the sum of the forward and side directions that the tractor driver can see. When used in road traffic and in agriculture or forestry, the tractor must be constructed and equipped in such a way that the driver has an adequate field of vision under all normal road traffic and field and forestry work conditions.

The field of view shall be deemed to be sufficient when the driver is able, wherever possible, to see a portion of each front wheel and other regulatory requirements are met.

Within the scope of the regulation, many mechanical, dynamic and environmental tests are carried out as well as measurements for the approval of the relevant equipment. For tests to be considered successful, test results must meet regulatory requirements.
